Sardis is a community of people in Chilliwack learning how to live with more compassion, hope, curiosity and care.
Some of us are deeply rooted in Christian faith. Some are still figuring out what we believe and how to live it out. Some have stepped away from religion. Some have questions about church. Some come from different cultures, traditions or spiritual backgrounds.
You do not need to believe before you belong.
You are welcome to come as you are, meet people, ask questions, listen, share your story and discover what this community is about. At Sardis SDA Church, our mission is simple: to help people find and follow Jesus. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome here. We believe in creating a community built on grace, compassion, and the love of Christ, where everyone has a place to belong. Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or have been walking with Jesus for years, we invite you to join us in growing together.
We offer programs and gatherings for every stage of life—from infants to seniors—designed to help you know Christ more deeply and build meaningful relationships. At Sardis Adventist Church, you’ll find opportunities to worship, learn, and serve alongside others who are on the journey of faith with you. More than just a church, we strive to be a family where you are seen, valued, and loved.
A community for Chilliwack
Chilliwack is changing.
Our community includes long-time residents, newcomers, Indigenous families, immigrants, young adults, retirees, people with strong religious roots and many who do not identify with any religious group at all.
We think that diversity is something to welcome.
Sardis wants to be a place where people from different generations, cultures and life experiences can meet one another with respect, curiosity and care.
Not everyone has to think alike to share a table.
Not everyone has to have the same story to become a friend.
You can bring your questions.
Questions about life.
Questions about God.
Questions about faith.
Questions about the Bible.
Questions about suffering, meaning, justice, relationships, purpose and hope.
You may even have questions about whether church is worth your time.
That is okay.
We believe honest questions are part of a meaningful life, and we want Sardis to be a place where people can explore them without pressure.
We are learning to notice people.
Too often people can feel invisible—even in a crowd.
We want to become the kind of community that notices.
We are learning to listen before giving advice.
To care before trying to fix.
To make room for children, youth, young adults, families, singles and seniors.
To welcome people whose lives, cultures or experiences are different from our own.
To pay attention to people who may otherwise be overlooked.
People matter here.
Why Jesus?
At the centre of our community is Jesus.
We are drawn to the way he treated people.
He noticed those others passed by.
He listened to people whose stories were complicated.
He shared meals with people who did not all belong to the same social or religious circles.
He welcomed questions.
He challenged hypocrisy.
He stood with people who were hurting.
And he invited people into a life shaped by love, mercy, justice, forgiveness and hope.
We are still learning what it means to follow that way.
You do not need to have Jesus figured out before you come.
You are welcome to explore with us.
There is room for your story.
Maybe church has been part of your life for years.
Maybe you walked away from it.
Maybe you were hurt by religion.
Maybe you come from another faith tradition.

Sardis is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Christian movement.
That movement has shaped our interest in whole-person health, education, justice, religious freedom, care for creation, Sabbath rest, community service and hope for the future.
But our first responsibility is local.
To our neighbours.
To Chilliwack.
To the Fraser Valley.
To the people we actually meet.
So we keep asking:
How can we become better neighbours?
How can we create a community where people are known and valued?
What might the life and teachings of Jesus offer our community today?
Come get connected.
You do not need the right clothes.
You do not need the right vocabulary.
You do not need to know when to stand, sit or pray.
You do not need to agree with everything.
Just come.
Meet some people.
Have a conversation.
Stay for lunch.
Ask a question.
Listen for a while.
